I am deeply indebted to Seth Kaplan for this copy of this
epic show. I have had several different copies over the past five years,
and this is the cleanest I've heard. Notably, it lacks the small
clicks/pops in Dark Star that mar most circulating copies. It also
has both encores.
There are moments of sound system disortion/buzziness at places,
such as the beginning of Promised Land, which are present on
all versions I've heard.
D1t07 (Rider): Subsecond dropout @ 11:14
D2t06 (Greatest): Subsecond discontinuity @ 3:36; may be
sound system. Brief bit of static @ 5:07.

You guys weren't kidding. This show is outstanding in almost every way. And I just moved to Oregon so that's kinda cool:) Jerry's guitar sound and playing is really crisp and the interplay between him and Bob is amazing.
I can't believe the quality of the sound. Somebody has given that tape a lot of TLC over the years for it to still sound like that. Amazing!!

THE BEST SBD FOR THIS SHOW
After sampling all of the different sources for this show, covering many different songs, my ears have determined that this Seth Kaplan tape is the absolute best available. Instrument levels and overall sonic balance is much improved, along with clearer, cleaner vocals. EQ can be slightly improved by listening though iTunes on the "Rock" EQ setting, but I prefer this tape straight up.
Incredible show, maybe top 10 from the band's 35 year career. My favorite Dark Star of all time.

This is THE version!
Cleanest version I've ever heard, by far. Everything is so absolutely crystal clear, I almost miss the old crackles and pops of the more familiar versions. Almost. I've always liked this show alot, but felt that it wasn't quite on the level of some of their September shows, most notably 9/17 and 9/21. Over the years it's made it's way out of my rotation, but now I have a newfound appreciation for it with this new version, so I may have to reconsider my stance.
Dark Star here I come!
